10th Annual Oxford International Conference
on the Science of Botanicals

April 11th - 14th, 2011.
Conference Abstracts are available for viewing online.

The National Center for Natural Products Research (NCNPR) within the School of Pharmacy at the University of Mississippi is pleased to
announce the 10th Annual Oxford International Conference on the Science of Botanicals. This conference is supported by a cooperative agreement between the NCNPR and the Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) at the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). It is co-sponsored by the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica/CAS, China; the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR - India); the Ministry of Indigenous Medicine, Sri Lanka; the American Society of Pharmacognosy (ASP); the Society for Medicinal Plant and Natural Product Research (GA); and the Korean Society of Pharmacognosy (KSP).

The function of this conference is to review, discuss, and explore the confluence of current research topics in natural product chemistry, pharmacognosy, and botanicals. This being the 10th anniversary of this conference, we would like to take the time to fully reflect on key issues that surround botanical dietary supplements.  To achieve this we have assembled speakers from industry, academia, nonprofit institutions, trade associations, and governmental agencies to discuss these issues. We have broken down the conference into specific sessions to discuss the specific topics associated with each area of interest and each session will include a panel discussion to offer an interactive overview of these topics that include:

  • Indian Systems of Medicine
  • Traditional Chinese Systems of Medicine
  • Overview of ODS/NCCAM Botanical Research Centers
  • Global Perspectives Concerning Botanical Dietary Supplements
  • Instrumentation and Technological Innovations for the Authentication of Dietary Supplements
  • Designer Dietary Supplement “Drugs”
  • Current Research on Natural Products and Botanical Dietary Supplements
